In recognition of World Press Freedom Day, CIMA hosted an event entitled “Securing and Expanding Press Freedom through New Media” on Capitol Hill, exploring journalists’ use of new media and the importance of information technologies in expanding press freedom in closed societies.
Honorary co-hosts for the event were Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), and Rep. Michael Pence (R-Ind.), co-founders of the Congressional Caucus for the Freedom of the Press.
